Superpowers :)

Sometimes kids just make up excuses to cry. Maybe because they are tired or feeling sick. Tonight Alson started whining about;

Alson: I want superpowers. I want it, I want it, I want, (continues crying and whining)

Me: okay. If u want super powers you need to practice running so become fast, practice lifting so become like hulk, practice working so you become smart

Alson: no. Does naheek practice? He is flash now. I don't want those superpowers.

Me: so what superpower do you want?

Alson: I want fire and ice powers.

Me: why?

Alson: so I could freeze BAD guys and melt them at police.

Me: who are bad guys? What do you mean bad?

Alson: people who break see-saw at parks, people who litter and people who bully

Me: that's a nice thought.

Alson: yes, n I want a unique mask with red and white, a special consume too...

Me: have u ever seen any real person with superpowers.

Alson: yes, you! You know what I am doing without looking. Like when I m in toilet or when I write on the wrong side of book..(Ofcourse I do, if he is too quiet he is up to something)

Me: you can also be a super hero when u grow up because ur my son. And you can for sure catch bad guys if you keep your mind at it. Now let's sleep. Good night

When I Grow Up

A compilation of discussions and statements by Alson on what it will be when he grows up.

- When I grow up I will never sleep. I will be awake for hundred years.. And mommy that's a long time,

- When I grow up I will keep all my toys on the ground and I will never pick them up. I will walk on them and play with them all the time,

- When I grow up I will not do any writing or any school work. I will spend all my time reading books only,

- When I grow up I will not share my room, table, chairs, plates, toys or any space with any kid, specially Kokki. I will have my own room, table and toys - in fact I will own a house on my own keep only animals and live in a tent just outside of it,

- When I grow up I will watch Cartoon Network (I don't let Alson watch Cartoon Network) all the time. The TV will be suspended from the ceiling, so I can watch while I lie down,

- When I grow up I will make a Robot with my boy friends. The robot will work and earn money. The robot will do whatever I say, 

- When I grow up I won't have cold showers but I will have fun inside the tub or a bucket each and every time I have a shower. 

Yes! I wish you every happiness and joy it brings you. Whether it includes all of the above or none from them. 

Mamma, how I miss you so!

Mamma, how I miss you so much,

It's been so much time away from home.

But I miss you every single moment,

I miss you every time I keep my hair brush down,

For it was you who did my hair till high school.

But you make others waste time on you and don't value their time.

You complain of people not doing what you expect of them,

But you never meet peoples expectations.

I met your better half,

You complain of your spouse and kids sickness,

But you never realised the woes are of your words and doings.

If not NOW, when?

Don't wait life to happen to you. Plan, live and take actions to make it happening. Life goes at a faster pace than you think.

Don't wait wishing and thinking. Take the small steps and you will see the next one you have to take. Have faith!

Don't wait even if you are afraid of failure, it's part of living. It's a lesson - so don't miss the opportunity to learn.

Don't wait for success to come to you or opportunity to knock on your door. You have to go get it.

Don't wait for the perfect moment to do something. This might me the best timing. Better do it than regret the lost time.

Don't wait for the perfect person. Be the right person in someone else's life.

Don't wait for miracles. You are a miracle of Allah (swa).

Don't wait to do anything later. Do it now - this is the right time .

Every moment is a chance to be a better person.

Normally on Wednesdays Alson doesn't go to childcare. A scene from this morning while I was dressing him up.

Me: Alson you need to get ready cos I have to go to uni today

Alson: y? What do you do at uni?

Me: all sorts of things. Study and enjoy with friends

Alson: do you have toys?

Me: no, not toys for kids but yes, we have things for grown ups

Alson: what is it?

Me: we have coffee shops, grown ups like to sit and talk eat other and drink tea

Alson (nods): oh okay

I go to uni - after few hours Alson and his dad comes to pick me

Alson: mommy, did you have a good day at uni?

Me: (startled) ah, yes, I did

Alson: did u enjoy? Have fun with friends?

Me: yes, I did. Thank you

It was only later I realised that the roles did change today. Normally it was me who asked what he did in the class, stories he read and about friends in the morning. And when he comes home ask about his day. He used the same words/phrases from me.

I may not be the best chef but I know enough of cooking and know how to cook for you, to sooth your tastes,
